To our wonderful Dee Jay’s Family,

Let me start by saying THANK YOU to everyone who has supported and loved us for over 30 years!! It has been such a privilege to bring you the scents you love that create the special and powerful memories that only fragrances can.

With that being said, I have decided to retire and close Dee Jay’s Candles.

As I reflect on how this business was started I’m amazed at how much it has grown. My mother and grandparents first started pouring candles in our kitchen in the late 80’s. Through hard work and determination, this trio developed what they believed to be the best candle product on the market, and our business was born. I am so grateful and honored to call them my family.

My mother Diane retired in 1998, but visits the store and factory often. We lost my grandfather, Bill “The Candle Man” in 2010. Many of you knew him from the Coomer’s Craft Malls and First Monday Trade Days at Canton. His death took a significant toll on us all, and I still find myself asking him for business advice. My grandmother Dorothy is living the good life in retirement, hitting the gym, traveling often, and just staying busy.

As for me, I have been running Dee Jay’s Candles for the past 25 years. I have been married for over 20 years to the love of my life and we have two amazing teenage sons. They are always on the go and every day offers something new.

I can’t thank our employees enough for their loyalty and dedication in bringing you superior customer service and high-quality products. Trey has managed our retail store and has been a priceless addition to our business. You have all shown him so much love and many of you now consider him a dear friend. Our factory managers Zenaida and Mara have worked tirelessly throughout the years to make sure only the highest quality products leave our warehouse. Diane Smith was my partner in crime in our main office for many years before her retirement and I can honestly say that I would not have been able to maintain my sanity or get through most days without her. There are too many former employees to personally thank, but I am extremely grateful for each and everyone of them.

There is never an easy or convenient time to close a business, but after two gutwrenching and soul searching years, I felt the timing was right to start my next adventure. My new adventure you may ask? To obtain my nursing degree and become a Registered Nurse.

I know many of you are disappointed and we will miss you all. I may never be able to adequately convey how special each and every one of you are. As we journey into unchartered waters, I graciously ask for your patience and understanding as we take steps toward making this change.

We will do our very best to keep you informed of official closing dates, which we expect to be mid-February 2020. In the meantime, please continue to shop in the store and place your orders on our website. We will continue pouring products right up to our closing date to ensure that you have a good supply of your favorite scents. Please be aware that as scents and supplies are depleted in the factory, they will not be reordered, so shop early for the best selection.

Feel free to call or email us at any time with any questions you might have.

From the bottom of my heart, I appreciate you and couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend the last 25 years!
